CASE HISTORY

FOUR SEASONS

From its headquarters in Montreal, the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts chain operates 79 facilities in various cities and tourist locations in 33 countries around the world. The hotel chain aims to meet the needs of both business travellers and tourists, offering the highest level of comfort thanks to a superior quality service, in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. One of the most recent achievements of Four Seasons Hotels is a 117-room hotel in a Renaissance palace in Florence, once home to a convent. The hotel also features a top-class restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a large beauty farm and even a hairdressing salon.

"To support our VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) solution, which includes both wireline and wireless telephony, we needed an advanced local network," explains Arcangelo Menegazzo, IT Manager at Four Seasons Hotel in Florence. "We also needed to be able to offer secure Internet access, video surveillance and CCTV services, as well as the IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) video-on-demand. In addition, to ensure trouble-free operation of our business, staff would also need to access certain network resources."

Today, the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence is equipped with a modern cabled and wireless network that fully meets client expectations, thanks to the excellent level of service resulting from VoIP telephony, Internet access and on-demand video, always via a completely secure connection. Being highly scalable, the solution is able to meet the future needs for business development and allows staff to carry out their duties with greater productivity. Furthermore, the CCTV monitoring functions also ensure protection and make the staff and guests feel safer.

"Thanks to the automatic recognition of the devices connected, ProCurve technology represents an extremely secure access solution for a facility like a hotel, where administrators have limited control over the type of wireless devices used. The ProCurve lifetime warranty will certainly help reduce TCO and, with some certainty, can also provide an excellent return on investment. Soon, the solution will be available in an additional 38 rooms," concluded Mr. Menegazzo.
