CASE HISTORY

GUESS EUROPE

PRINTER MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Founded in 1981 in Los Angeles by four brothers originally from southern France, GUESS has become a leader in the casual wear and accessories sector. Today, it produces and markets a complete range for women, men and children, and generates a turnover of 2.6 billion dollars. In Italy, GUESS is present with more than 160 single-brand shops (own premises and licensed retail outlets).

THE NEEDS

Like all complex organisations, GUESS Europe had experienced the proliferation of printers fleets, which had grown in an unorganised way and generated excessive costs and inefficiencies.

In the case of the multinational clothing brand, there was the aggravating circumstance of a large number of locations and points of sale, which certainly did not make technical assistance and supply of parts and consumables an easy task.

Thus in 2011, the EMEA IT division decided to take over the situation and find the best solution for making print activity more effective, from the point of view of task management, as well as for the end users.

THE SOLUTION

Print infrastructure management and control system with pay-per-consumption.

TT Tecnosistemi has assisted the client to remove personal printers in favour of departmental ones, and introduce the use of PINs, thanks to which Guess Europe has drastically reduced its wastefulness. For example, in the offices there were frequent cases where users launched print jobs and then did not go to collect them.

The company also installed highly-innovative management software to manage the activities of all devices in detail and to set clear common rules when using printers.

In addition, through a dedicated portal, Guess Europe and TT Tecnoisistemi can control toner consumption for each device and view their maintenance status. REordering materials and spare parts is done almost automatically, effectively eradicating stock inventory (which also used to be affected by the wide range of brands and printer models used) and eliminating machine downtimes. With regard to this latest issue, we also needed to consider reducing the range of models, which has allowed the client to rotate printers in case of failure.

THE BENEFITS

GUESS Europe decided to create a uniform fleet of printers, selecting HP as its exclusive partner and choosing the equipment purchase formula that gave TT Tecnosistemi full management of the project. This keeps costs and performance under control, ensures maximum operational continuity, and saves money on printing costs.
